Noida International Airport Runs Full-Scale Aircraft Turnaround Trial
Noida International Airport completes a full-scale aircraft turnaround trial with IndiGo as it prepares for domestic commercial flights starting June 15.

Noida International Airport has achieved a significant milestone by conducting a full-scale aircraft turnaround trial on June 9. This exercise was carried out in partnership with IndiGo and other airport partners as part of the airport’s operational readiness, activation and transition (ORAT) programme.
The trial was designed to simulate the entire aircraft turnaround process, testing the seamless coordination between various airport systems and stakeholders. This preparation comes as the greenfield airport is scheduled to begin domestic commercial operations on June 15.
Critical infrastructure was rigorously tested during the exercise, including ground power systems, passenger boarding bridges, and Visual Docking Guidance Systems (VDGS). The VDGS is an automated system used to help pilots park aircraft precisely and safely at terminal gates.
In addition to infrastructure, the trial evaluated ground handling activities, including cargo operations, integrated baggage handling, and in-flight catering services. Refuelling scenarios were also assessed to ensure the airport’s operational preparedness.
As part of the readiness checks, the airport performed a re-validation of the Required Navigation Performance (RNP) approach procedures and the Instrument Landing System (ILS).
The airport stated that this turnaround trial is one of several advanced ORAT exercises intended to ensure that all operational interfaces are coordinated smoothly before the start of commercial operations.
