On June 10, 2026, Himanshu Jangra, a web developer at Starvik Design in Gurgaon, was terminated after his joke about offering sexual favours for a Rs 370 chicken biryani plate during a stand-up comedy show went viral. The incident, reported by PTI, occurred at comedian Pranit More’s event where Jangra humorously linked the meal cost to an inappropriate exchange.
Vivek Vishwakarma, founder of Starvik Design, confirmed the termination in an X post, stating, “We have fired Himanshu. While mistakes have consequences, we also hope they become opportunities for reflection.” Jangra later apologised and deactivated his Instagram account amid backlash.
The controversy sparked debates on offensive humour and accountability in comedy. Similar incidents involving comedians like Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia in 2025 highlighted the growing scrutiny over public remarks in entertainment.
