There is a plan to install loudspeakers on CCTV cameras installed at the intersections of Millennium City for traffic control in Gurugram. With this, the police personnel sitting in the traffic control room can give directions to the traffic police. Apart from this, if there is a traffic jam on the roads ahead of the traffic signal, then these loudspeakers can play an important role in diverting the traffic by informing the drivers about the traffic jam through this.

In this regard, DCP Traffic has written a letter to Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and requested that this system be installed on CCTV cameras, which will make traffic control much easier. At present, the Smart City branch of GMDA has installed 1200 CCTV cameras at 218 intersections. With the help of these CCTV cameras, the traffic is being monitored from the traffic control room built in the GMDA office located in Sector-44. With the help of these CCTV cameras, challans worth six to seven crore rupees are being issued annually for violation of traffic rules.

More than 2700 CCTV cameras will be installed in the second phase

In the second phase, GMDA has allotted tenders for installing 2722 CCTV cameras at 258 squares and intersections. The cameras will be installed next year. In the third phase, there is a plan to install 10 thousand CCTV cameras at 1600 squares and intersections, for which DPR is being prepared. The estimated cost of installing them will be around Rs 422 crore. After the completion of all three phases, more than half of Gurugram’s roads will be under CCTV surveillance.

Deputy Commissioner of Police wrote a letter to GMDA

DCP Traffic Virendra Vij has requested GMDA officials to install Public Announcement System (PAS) on CCTV cameras installed at 218 intersections. After its installation, the traffic system will improve. In this matter, GMDA Chief Engineer Arun Dhankhar says that the traffic system on the roads will be improved as per IRC guidelines.
