Employees at Vision Rx Lab in Sector 34, Gurugram, announced a strike early Monday morning. The workers stopped production and began protesting outside the factory, effectively halting operations.
The dispute centers on salary matters. Workers are demanding that staff who have been employed for 2, 5, or 10 years be paid minimum wages according to their skill level—semi‑skilled, skilled, and high‑skilled. They also want a fixed 10 percent increase in pay.
Vision Rx Lab specialises in manufacturing lenses for eyeglasses. The company has stated that it already pays employees based on the minimum wages set by the Haryana government. However, the workforce is not satisfied and has begun the strike to push for additional salary adjustments.
Earlier this month, employees in the Manesar area of Gurugram had staged protests after the Haryana government announced increases in minimum wages for unskilled, semi‑skilled and skilled workers. The current strike at Vision Rx Lab follows that pattern of labour action.
The situation remains ongoing, with the factory’s operations suspended as workers continue their demands for higher wages.
