Gurugram News : Promotion of free garbage collection in the city, people are raising questions on recovery

Garbage collection from every household is free in all four zones of the Municipal Corporation. The Municipal Corporation pays the garbage collection agencies. Councillors from 36 wards are also promoting this service, but in some municipal colonies, garbage vehicle drivers are issuing receipts for 50 rupees. It is being reported that residents are assisting them in this work.

It should be noted that the Municipal Corporation had an agreement with the agency operating the work about eight months ago, in which the agency operator had the right to collect money. To improve the deteriorating system, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya assigned the work to a new agency, which has no agreement to collect money from building owners.

Under the new system of garbage collection from every household, the Municipal Corporation is to sign a seven-year contract. Under this arrangement, the cleaning agency will not be changed frequently. The Municipal Corporation has already sent a proposal to headquarters, which has been returned for revision. The revised proposal will soon be sent to headquarters by the Municipal Corporation.

People’s Response

Garbage truck operators charge 50 rupees every month but don’t provide receipts. When asked, they say the receipts have been printed, even though the municipal corporation should provide free garbage collection services. This irregular collection is frustrating and confusing people.

The garbage collection vehicle is coming to the street, but it’s issuing a 50 rupee receipt every month, which many residents find unfair. Surprisingly, this service is being provided by Eco Green, which has already been blacklisted by the court. Yet, the collection continues.

Garbage collection in the district should be free, but here people are collecting money every month. They don’t provide receipts on time and increase the rates without notice. There’s neither oversight nor transparency, leaving people confused and inconvenienced.

The garbage truck sometimes issues a receipt, and sometimes leaves without one, taking the money. There’s no regularity in the service; sometimes the vehicle doesn’t come for the entire day. People are confused about the basis for payment, while the quality of service is also very poor.

In municipal corporation areas, contracts have been signed with different agencies to collect garbage from every household, and the Municipal Corporation pays them. If any vehicle driver demands money for garbage collection, it is wrong. Action will be taken after the matter is investigated.
