A fire broke out in a room on the first floor of a house in G Block of Saraswati Enclave in Sector 10 police station area. Four brothers, including two real brothers, died in the accident due to suffocation from smoke and burning from the fire. The bodies of all four were recovered from the room in a burnt state. Three youths worked as tailors in a garment company and a 17-year-old teenager was a student of class 10. All were originally from Motihari district of Bihar and were currently living here for many years.
The incident took place around 1 o’clock on Friday night. Sector 37 fire brigade and Sector 10 police station police team reached the spot and controlled the fire and sent the bodies for post-mortem. Prima facie, the cause of the fire is said to be a short circuit. However, the FSL team has collected samples of ashes from here. This will reveal the exact cause of the incident. There is mourning in all the families after the accident.
The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Noor Alam, 24-year-old Mushtaq, 17-year-old Aman and 22-year-old Mo. Sahil, residents of Khairwa Laukhan village of Motihari district. Noor Alam and Mushtaq were real brothers. Aman was their cousin and Sahil was their maternal uncle’s brother.
Three people had shifted to one room only ten days ago
Elder brother Mohd. Bachal said that he lives in Shakti Park. His younger brothers Noor, Mushtaq and uncle Mohd. Mufeez lived on rent on the first floor of Rajesh Kumar Jangra’s house in Saraswati Enclave. Noor was married and has two daughters. Ten days ago, Noor’s wife went to the village with the daughters. After this, Mushtaq and Sahil left their room and started living in the same room with Noor. Uncle Mufeez also lives in the neighbouring room.
The doors and windows of the room were locked from inside
Except Mufeez’s son Aman, the other three worked as tailors in a garment company. On Friday night, Mohd. Aman slept in Noor’s room. When the fire broke out at night, all the people in the vicinity gathered. The doors and windows of the room were locked from inside. Along with informing the fire brigade, people tried to extinguish the fire by pouring water from the pipe. When the police, fire brigade and family members broke the door and entered inside, all four were found lying in a burnt state.
The police team has recovered four bodies from the room. Prima facie, the fire appears to have been caused by a short circuit. The exact cause is being investigated. The FSL team has collected samples. Death can also be due to suffocation from smoke. The post-mortem report will clarify more things. – Karan Goyal, DCP West
