The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has terminated four contract employees following investigations into fraudulent activities including the use of Artificial Intelligence to fake complaint resolutions. MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya issued the orders after the staff failed to provide satisfactory explanations during departmental inquiries. These individuals were found guilty of violating service rules, neglecting duties, and tampering with official records.

One Assistant Sanitary Inspector, Wasim, utilized AI technology to manipulate images. He edited photos to make it appear as though public complaints had been resolved. By uploading these doctored images to the complaint portal, he falsely claimed tasks were completed. This was a blatant attempt to close cases without performing any actual work on the ground.

The investigation identified this as serious misconduct and fraud. It’s a digital deception meant to mislead the administration. After a personal hearing, the MCG decided his services must end immediately.

Two computer operators, Neeraj Vashisht and Ankur Arora, faced similar disciplinary actions. They were found to be intentionally creating unnecessary objections regarding property IDs and property tax matters. Their actions deviated from the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and caused significant delays for citizens. These delays effectively blocked the smooth processing of legitimate tax applications. Because they failed to justify these irregularities, the department moved to terminate them.

Another staff member, Assistant Sanitary Inspector Sonu, was caught using GPS spoofing applications. He used these tools to mark his attendance on the municipal portal while he was not actually at his duty station. The department categorized this as both fraud and a manipulation of government records. Such behavior won’t be tolerated in the municipal setup, according to the official orders.

The MCG is emphasizing a policy of transparency and accountability for all its workers. Pradeep Dahiya stated that providing timely and high-quality services to citizens remains the top priority for the corporation. He added that any staff member found violating rules, engaging in forgery, or misusing their position will face strict consequences. The crackdown serves as a warning to other employees regarding the consequences of negligence or dishonesty.

The terminations were carried out after the employees were issued show-cause notices. None of the four individuals could provide an acceptable response during the subsequent hearings. This move targets both digital fraud and physical absenteeism within the municipal framework.
