Delhi-Gurugram Expressway : Good News! Now a 1.5 hour journey will be completed in just 20 minutes.

To improve connectivity between Delhi and Gurugram, the central government is planning to build an expressway from AIIMS to Gurugram. This 35-kilometer expressway will reduce travel time between Delhi and Gurugram and reduce pollution. This expressway will connect to the Gurugram-Faridabad road and facilitate access to the airport. This will greatly benefit residents of Delhi-NCR.

To improve connectivity between Delhi and Gurugram, the central government has begun work on a plan to build an expressway from AIIMS to Gurugram via Mahipalpur. The DPR has begun.

The DPR will provide a feasibility report and specify where the route will be underground and where it will be elevated. There is talk that the section from AIIMS to Mahipalpur could be underground, while the rest could be elevated. This discussion will be put to rest after the DPR. Currently, during peak hours, it takes at least an hour and a half to travel from AIIMS to Gurugram’s Sirhaul border.

It takes at least two hours to reach the Gurugram-Faridabad Road. After the completion of the expressway, it will take 20 to 25 minutes to reach the Gurugram-Faridabad Road. This will reduce traffic congestion on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway from Sirhaul Border to Mahipalpur. This will not only save time but also reduce pollution. Following is a report by Dainik Jagran Gurugram Chief Correspondent Aditya Raj on the proposed plan:

A look at the entire project

  • This will be a signal-free expressway of about 35 kilometres.
  • The estimated cost of this project is approximately five thousand crore rupees.
  • It will connect to the Gurugram-Faridabad road in front of Ghata village.
  • Both the underground and elevated portions of the expressway will have six lanes each.
  • It will connect to the main roads leading to the airport in the Delhi area.

Main objectives of the project

  • This will improve connectivity between Delhi and Gurugram.
  • This will improve connectivity, especially between AIIMS and Gurugram.
  • This will reduce vehicular pollution in Delhi and Gurugram.
  • This will improve connectivity from the airport to several areas including Gurugram.

It will be connected to several highways and expressways.

The new expressway will connect to the Gurugram-Faridabad Road. The Gurugram-

Faridabad Road connects to the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) near Ghata village, which

in turn connects to the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and Dwarka Expressway. The

Gurugram-Sohna Highway passes through Vatika Chowk, which in turn connects to the

Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Alipur village, just before Sohna.

The SPR connects to the service lane of the Gurugram-Sohna Highway at Vatika Chowk. The section from Vatika Chowk to Ghata Village is known as Golf Course Extension Road.

Thus, the AIIMS-Gurugram via Mahipalpur Expressway will not only benefit the residents of Cyber City and South Delhi, but will also directly benefit the residents of various areas of Delhi and Haryana as well as Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

In Delhi, the expressway will start from AIIMS INA and pass through Brigadier Hoshiar Singh Marg, Africa Avenue, Vasant Vihar, Nelson Mandela Marg and Vasant Kunj.

What will be the biggest benefit?

The worst traffic congestion in Delhi-NCR is between the Mahipalpur and Sirhaul borders on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. Even after the construction of the Dwarka Expressway, an average of 300,000 vehicles cross the Sirhaul border daily. Most of these vehicles cross during peak hours, from 8 am to 11 am and from 5 pm to 9 pm.

After the completion of the new expressway, vehicles going from Delhi Airport or AIIMS to Mumbai via Faridabad, Palwal, Nuh, Alwar, Jaipur, Dausa and Vadodara will be diverted via Mahipalpur instead of Sirhaul Border, IFFCO Chowk or Rajiv Chowk.

Gurugram Jam : Rain wreaks havoc, causing a 10-km traffic jam in Gurugram, with vehicles crawling from IFFCO Chowk to Mahipalpur in Delhi.
