Traffic Challan : What happens when the love for speed and defying rules goes beyond limits? A shocking case has emerged from Gurugram where a dangerous biker was caught with not just one or two, but a staggering 50 violations of traffic rules. The youth, who had become a ‘traffic challan king’, continued to roam fearlessly on roads even after accumulating half a century of traffic offenses.
50 violations caught on camera, ₹3.68 lakh penalty imposed
The Gurugram traffic police are currently running a special campaign against vehicles with long-pending challans. On Saturday evening, during checking at Sheetla Mata Road, a TVS Star City bike (UP32EC2094) was stopped. When Traffic Inspector Ramesh Kumar entered the bike number in the system, the police were stunned to discover this vehicle had accumulated a total of 50 challans within one year. The list of rule violations was so extensive that the penalty amount escalated to ₹3,68,800.
The biker, identified as Devam Saxena, had made a mockery of traffic rules by riding without a helmet, jumping red lights, driving without pollution (PUC) certificate, and without insurance. Acting promptly, the police seized the bike along with imposing heavy penalties.
Not just the bike – mini truck also emerges as ‘rule enemy’
The impact of traffic police’s crackdown was also visible on Sunday morning at Agrasen Chowk. When a mini truck was stopped for inspection, another major revelation surfaced. This vehicle had 42 pending challans under various sections.
Outstanding penalty: ₹5,48,500
Main violations: No-entry zone violation, driving in wrong direction, and failure to use seat belts.
Interestingly, this mini truck alone had dozens of challans just for no-entry zone violations. The police have impounded this mini truck as well.
No mercy for 90+ days pending challans
The Gurugram traffic police have made it clear that there will be no leniency for those who take traffic rules lightly. According to police:
- Vehicles with challans pending for more than 90 days are being black-listed
- Cars failing to pay penalties are being seized on the spot
- Smart City cameras are monitoring every small and big violation
Appealing to citizens, the traffic police said: “Road safety is not just a rule, but the safety of your life and others’ lives. Follow rules and pay pending challans on time, otherwise your vehicle may also end up in police custody.”
