The Haryana government has initiated work on a new metro route along Sohna Road in Gurugram, aiming to enhance urban connectivity. According to a proposal finalized by the Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES), the corridor will span approximately 20 kilometers and include 17 metro stations. Notably, the route will bypass Badshahpur village, turning toward Sector 67 instead, before proceeding to areas like South City 2 and Rajiv Chowk.
The proposed alignment begins at Bhandari Railway Station and passes through key locations such as Mohan Nagar, Power House Colony, Kadarpur Mor, and Arbana Chowk. Additional stops include Sector 65, Kushal Shyam Chowk (near Golf Course Extension), Fresco Square, Sector 47, Bakhtawar Chowk, Medanta Hospital, Mini Secretariat, Sadar Bazaar, Sector 8, and Bhim Nagar Railway Station.
The plan excludes a station at Sector 5 to accommodate an exchange facility with the existing Old Gurugram Metro corridor. Earlier proposals suggested routes via Vikas Chowk and Rajiv Chowk, but the updated plan prioritizes ridership needs.
On March 17, 2026, a meeting organized by the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) approved the allocation of ₹1.41 crore for RITES to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR). HMRTC Secretary Anurag Rastogi emphasized the strategic importance of the route in improving last-mile connectivity for residents and commuters.
While the initial proposal is complete, final approval will depend on a high-level review meeting scheduled in the coming weeks. Officials indicated that minor adjustments might be made during discussions. Despite pending approvals, construction activities for the metro line are reportedly progressing rapidly.
The project aligns with Gurugram’s push to expand its metro network amid rapid urbanization. It will complement existing corridors like the Old Gurugram line, reducing congestion and providing seamless access to commercial and residential hubs.
