About 1500 flat buyers of Mahira Homes located in Sector-68, Gurugram are upset due to the construction being stopped for the last three years. The buyers protested outside the RERA office because they have not received their homes despite making full payment till 2021. They are facing the double burden of living on rent and paying EMIs.

New Gurugram. Nearly 1500 flat buyers of Mahira Homes affordable housing scheme located in Sector-68 are facing a huge crisis due to the construction work being stopped for the last three years. On Thursday morning, the buyers expressed their pain by protesting outside the Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (HRERA) office.

The protesters say that they had made 100 per cent payment for the flat to the builder through their savings and bank loan by the year 2021, but now they neither have a house nor any hope of a solution.

Association member Tarang Agrawal warned that if the administration still does not pay attention, then next time we will protest by taking to the streets with our entire families. Buyers Association General Secretary Sachin Kumar said that despite repeated complaints, neither RERA nor the Town and Country Planning Department (TCP) is taking any concrete steps.

He said that we are paying EMIs by living on rent. Now life is facing a double blow. Let us tell you that Mahira Homes had got the license to build in the year 2016 on the basis of allegedly fake documents.

This matter came to light in the year 2018, but despite this no strict action was taken against the builder. In 2022, the Director Town and Country Planning Department canceled the license and banned construction. A few months later, this decision was canceled by the Additional Chief Secretary on conditions.

ED investigation and arrest of builder

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a money laundering case against Mahira Homes. Group owner Dharam Singh Choukkar is in jail. Director Vikas Choukkar is absconding. Managing Director Sikandar Choukkar is on bail.
