KL Rahul added another milestone to his IPL career during the Delhi Capitals’ clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday, 8 May 2026. Although he was dismissed for 23, Rahul became the first player in IPL history to accumulate more than 1000 runs for three different franchises.
Rahul’s total runs now stand at 2548 for Punjab Kings, 1410 for Lucknow Super Giants, and 1002 for Delhi Capitals. This achievement underscores his consistency across teams and batting roles throughout the tournament.
The wicket fell on the final ball of the fifth over when Kartik Tyagi deceived Rahul with a slower delivery. Attempting to loft the ball inside‑out over cover, Rahul failed to get to the pitch and sliced it high toward mid‑on, where Cameron Green collected a well‑judged catch.
In addition to the record, Rahul also became the fastest batter to reach the 1000‑run milestone for Delhi Capitals, achieving it in just 23 innings. He surpassed the previous record jointly held by JP Duminy and Rishabh Pant, who both took 35 innings.
Earlier in the evening, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to bowl first. Kolkata retained the same playing XI, while Delhi brought in Mukesh Kumar and Vipraj Nigam in place of T Natarajan and Karun Nair.
