The district administration has started preparations for the assembly elections. On Wednesday, District Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Election Officer Nishant Kumar Yadav held a meeting with subordinate officers as well as representatives of recognized political parties in the auditorium of the Mini Secretariat and discussed increasing voter turnout. For this, the most important emphasis was laid on the program for revision of voter list.
The work of adding and removing names in the voter list will start
In the meeting, District Election Officer Nishant Kumar Yadav gave detailed information regarding the conduct of the revision program of the photo voter list 2024 by the Election Commission, considering July 1, 2024 as the eligibility date. He informed that in this special revision program of the voter list, which will continue till July 18, the work of publishing the voter list format, filing claims and objections, resolving claims and objections, adding names to the voter list, correction and removal of the name of the dead voter will be done.
According to the said program, BLOs will go door-to-door to do electoral verification work. During this, the names of voters who have died will be removed. Also, the names of new voters of 18 years will be added and other works related to the voter list will be done. He instructed all AROs to ensure in their respective areas that this work is being done with full seriousness by BLOs by going door-to-door.
Representatives should contribute in making people aware – Administration’s appeal
Appeal was made to the representatives of all political parties to contribute in making people aware. Help and make people aware to get their names added or corrected in the voter list. Also, representatives of all political parties were asked to provide the list of Booth Level Agents (BLA), who will assist the BLO in the work at the booth.
Also, he asked for cooperation from the representatives of political parties to ensure cent percent voting so that the name of even a single eligible voter is not left out from the voter list. A maximum of ten applications can be submitted by a BLA for making new votes.
If more than this limit is submitted, they will be investigated by the ARO of the concerned area. He also instructed all Tehsildars that the booths where more than two percent votes have been deleted, they must investigate it once at their level.
Family members should not be divided into two booths – DC
Apart from identifying the polling stations with more than 1400 voters, information should also be collected about selecting a convenient place for the polling stations which have become dilapidated and lack basic facilities. New polling stations can be built at any social place. He clarified that while setting up new booths, special care should be taken that the members of any family are not divided into two booths.
After considering all the claims and objections under the special revision program, the final draft will be published on August 20. ARO Sonu Bhatt of Sohna, ARO Vishwajeet Chaudhary of Badshahpur, ARO Ravindra Kumar of Gurgaon, ARO Hoshiyaar Singh of Pataudi, BJP District President Kamal Yadav, JJP District President Shyochand Yadav etc. attended the meeting.
