On the lines of Jamtara, a network of thugs is flourishing in the cyber city of Gurugram. This place has now emerged as a new hideout for cyber criminals. About 32 thousand cases of cyber fraud have been reported here in one year.
However, with the help of the police, Rs 25 crore has been recovered and more than 600 criminals have also been arrested. But, about 7,000 cases are still pending and the cases of cyber fraud are not being controlled.
The situation is that on an average 70 to 80 cases of fraud are being reported every day. Recently, the police have arrested three people for providing bank accounts to cyber thugs. The accused have been identified as Irshad, Shahrukh Khan and Saif. 6 mobiles, 6 ATM cards, 38 SIM cards and Rs 10,000 in cash have been recovered from the possession of the accused.
DCP South Gurugram Siddhant Jain said that last year i.e. in the year 2023, there were about 32 thousand cases of cyber fraud. However, the police also recovered Rs 25 crore and arrested more than 600 criminals. But, about 7,000 cases are still pending.
Fraudsters use unidentified links
According to the police, fraudsters directly use unidentified links. On clicking which neither any OTP nor any confirmation is required. Recently, the police had also arrested three persons for providing bank accounts to cyber thugs in Cyber City Gurugram.
Job advertisement on Facebook and…
Used to post ads and commercials on Facebook to get jobs. When someone contacted them in the name of a job, before getting them a job, they would take their documents, open a bank account and keep the access to those bank accounts and all the documents with themselves.
The accused used to give those bank accounts to their other associates. The bank account into which the money was transferred by defrauding the complainant was made available by the accused to their other associates.
That’s why Gurugram was named Cyber City.
Gurugram was named Cyber City because many cyber companies have opened their offices here. MNC companies manage cyber related business models abroad by staying in Gurugram. But in such a situation, cyber crimes have also started becoming prevalent in the cyber city Gurugram.
