A husband in Pakur district’s Amadapara police station area took the law into his own hands after suspecting his wife of an affair. He and several allies seized both the woman and her lover, tore their clothes, and marched them semi‑nude through the village. The incident occurred on an unspecified date in early July 2026, according to the source.
Villagers watched as the couple was paraded, yet no one intervened despite the blatant cruelty. When police arrived, they faced resistance from the crowd before managing to rescue the victims. This is unusual because public outrage often leads to immediate condemnation, but here the bystanders remained silent.
Anup Roshan Bhengra, the station house officer, led the police team that eventually freed the pair. The authorities registered a case against five named individuals and forty unknown persons under the IT Act and BNS. Case number 49/2026 was logged at Amadapara police station based on the victim’s statement recorded by SDO Simon Marandi and SDPO Vijay Kumar.
Village head Sahibjan Tudu condemned the act, saying it was extremely shameful and that disputes should be reported to administrators. He stressed that women’s respect must be protected in every circumstance. And yet the video of the humiliation spread rapidly online, prompting further police action.
The police continue to raid possible hideouts of the accused while investigating those who shared the video. They have warned that anyone involved in the abuse or its dissemination will not be spared.
