Delhi police have registered 10 FIRs for assaults on journalists and an RAF soldier amid protests. No arrests have been made as of 22 July 2026. The cases were filed between Monday and today. Authorities are gathering evidence and identifying the culprits.
At Cantt. Place, a protester struck an RAF soldier, causing physical injury. The incident prompted the police to lodge הבית. The RAF soldier was identified and filed under an assault complaint. The response was swift, with the police claiming the soldier’s injuries were treated on site.
Female and male journalists suffered assault, robbery and theft of personal items. One woman was forcibly raised, her mobile and glasses seized, while a male journalist’s clothes were torn and his wallet taken. DCP New Delhi Sachin Sharma has already collected data on the assaulted reporters. The collated information will help file formal charges. And the allegations include spurious claims that one journalist had already reported to the Parliament Gate police station.
In a separate video, a khaki‑uniformed officer was seen striking protesters; the footage also shows an alleged assault on a woman’s private parts. The video went viral, collecting millions of views on social media. Public pressure is mounting for the police to act. Authorities have remained silent on the incident.
