NEW DELHI: A food delivery agent from Jharkhand died after being struck by a car and falling from the Dabri flyover in southwest Delhi on Thursday morning. Police confirmed that the scooter rider, identified as Rajkumar, a 25-year-old resident of Godda district, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital after being rushed there via ambulance. The car driver fled the scene, prompting a manhunt.
Police stated that a PCR call was received at 7:35 am reporting a person stranded on the Dabri flyover on Pankha Road. Upon reaching the site, authorities discovered a damaged scooter and a car with a Delhi registration linked to a Dabri resident. A senior police officer said, “The body has been preserved in a mortuary, and efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding driver.”
The victim, employed as a delivery executive with a private food service, was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are reconstructing the events leading to the accident.
This marks the latest in a series of hit-and-run incidents in Delhi, raising concerns about road safety. The car involved bore a permit tied to a Dabri-based individual, and investigators are scrutinizing CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the fleeing vehicle.
