NEW DELHI: In a relief for jailed Baramulla MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid, alias Engineer Rashid, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday permitted him to meet his ailing father at AIIMS Delhi. The MP, currently lodged in jail in connection with a terror funding case, can visit his father between 8am and 8pm daily till May 10.

Allowing the meeting, Justices Prathiba M Singh and Madhu Jain clarified that Rashid would return to jail after meeting his father at the hospital. The court maintained that existing security conditions, including the presence of at least two police officers in plain clothes with Rashid, remain in place.

The court also specified that police officials will stand outside his father’s ward. Additionally, the Delhi High Court turned down the National Investigation Agency’s request to restrict Rashid’s access to a mobile phone.

Rashid has been in jail since his arrest in a terror funding case. The court’s decision provides him temporary leave to attend to his father’s health needs at AIIMS Delhi.
