Delhi Police Officer Injured in Hit-and-Run by Suspect SUV
A Delhi police head constable was injured after being struck by a Mahindra XUV700 during a nighttime patrol. The driver fled the scene after attempting to evade questioning near Asharam Bapu Ashram.
Head Constable Mahendra sustained serious injuries to his left leg after being hit by a speeding SUV. The incident occurred during a routine patrol on April 13th, and a case has been registered.

A Delhi police head constable, Mahendra, was seriously injured after being struck by a car during a nighttime patrol on April 13th. The incident occurred in the Temple Marg area of New Delhi district. The driver of a Mahindra XUV700, initially observed parked suspiciously, attempted to flee after being approached by the officer.
The suspect vehicle was observed parked in a suspicious manner on the road near Asharam Bapu Ashram. Head Constable Mahendra approached the vehicle and knocked on the driver’s window to inquire. The driver, appearing startled by the presence of the uniform, sped away towards Dhaula Kuan.
Constable Deepesh, who was patrolling in a separate vehicle, witnessed the incident and began pursuing the suspect. The chase continued until the driver reached Shankar Chowk, where they abruptly braked and began reversing the vehicle.
As Head Constable Mahendra approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated, striking the officer’s motorcycle. The impact caused the motorcycle to crash into the sidewalk, resulting in serious injuries to Mahendra’s left leg. The motorcycle also sustained damage. Constable Deepesh continued the pursuit, but the suspect managed to escape.
Police registered a case on April 14th based on Mahendra’s statement. Mahendra was on night patrol duty from 8:00 PM on April 13th to 8:00 AM on April 14th. Deepesh was also patrolling the area on a separate motorcycle.
