Father Offers ₹10 Lac Reward After Noida Engineer Vanishes Near Pindari Glacier
Abhishek Chauhan, a 28‑year‑old engineer from Noida, went missing while trekking near the Pindari Glacier in Uttarakhand’s Bageshwar district on 29 May 2026. His father, Raghu Raj Chauhan, a Border Security Force inspector, has remained in a modest homestay in Khati village – approximately 10 km from the last known whereabouts of his son – and has announced a reward of ₹10 lac for any credible information that could lead to Abhishek’s whereabouts.
Despite extensive search efforts by police, Special Duty Rescue Force (SDRF), local teams, and drone surveillance over the past fortnight, no trace of Abhishek has surfaced. The search operation has canvassed the Sorag Bridge, Badiyakot, Kilpara, the Shambhu river belt, and other mountainous routes. Local guides, shepherds, and residents have been questioned, yet investigators remain unsettled by the absence of any clear evidence pointing to an accident, animal attack, or natural disaster.
Abhishek’s last confirmed sighting was by local guide Anand Ram, who testified that the engineer had asked him to advance to a marked halt point and prepare noodles. Ram stated that he waited at the halt point, but Abhishek never returned. A camera, jacket, and cap believed to belong to Abhishek were recovered initially, but his mobile phone, backpack, and other personal items remain missing.
Fearing that local investigations might not yield swift results, Mr. Chauhan has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. “Over two weeks have passed and we have no answers. We believe the investigation should be conducted by the CBI so that the truth can emerge. We only want to know what happened to our son,” he told The Times of India on Tuesday.
In a statement to the press, police circle officer Ajay Shah acknowledged the difficulty of the search, noting that teams continue to examine all possible angles. “Teams have searched Sorag bridge, Badiyakot, Kilpara, Shambhu river belt and other mountain routes. Local guides, shepherds and residents are being questioned. Search operation is continuing and all possible angles are being examined,” Shah said.
With the search area spanning nearly 100 km from the nearest town of Bageshwar, authorities have filed a case against unknown persons to broaden the scope of the investigation. Seven teams are now deployed to scour additional remote locations in the hope of finding any sign of Abhishek.
As the search continues, the community and Abhishek’s family remain hopeful. The ₹10 lac reward offered by Raghu Raj Chauhan serves as a plea for anyone with information to come forward, urging a swift resolution to the mystery surrounding his son’s disappearance.
