The price of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Delhi and the National Capital Region has risen again, reaching ₹80.09 per kilogram after a second hike in just two days. Residents across the region will face higher fuel costs, with Noida and Ghaziabad now charging ₹88.70 per kilogram.
The latest adjustment pushed the Delhi rate from ₹77.09 to ₹79.09 per kilogram on 15 May, when CNG was increased by ₹2 per kilogram. The most recent hike added ₹1 per kilogram on Sunday, bringing the price to ₹80.09 per kilogram.
Engineers and energy analysts say the hikes are part of efforts by state‑run oil companies to absorb higher input costs caused by volatility in international energy markets. However, according to sources quoted by the news agency PTI, the current increases cover only a portion of the global fuel price surge linked to the ongoing West Asian conflict.
Earlier this week, petrol and diesel prices were also raised by ₹3 per litre as global energy prices spiked. In Delhi, the retail price of petrol has risen from ₹94.77 to ₹97.77 per litre, while diesel has increased from ₹87.67 to ₹90.67 per litre.
These cumulative hikes reflect the broader trend of rising fuel costs across India, impacting everyday commuters and transport operators in the capital and surrounding areas.
