A 24-year-old woman from Noida died by suicide after jumping from her house in Ecotech-III, citing alleged dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws, police said.
The deceased, identified as Deepika from Kudi Khera village, had married Hrithik from Jalpura around 1.5 years ago. The incident occurred on Sunday night when she allegedly took her life after enduring distress from the accused.
Police from Ecotech-III station arrived at the scene, conducted legal formalities, and sent her body for post-mortem. An FIR was registered under dowry-related sections based on the complaint filed by her father.
Hrithik and his father-in-law, Manoj, were arrested during the investigation. Officers confirmed they are in police custody while further proceedings continue.
Reports noted the family had raised multiple complaints about dowry-related harassment, leading to the tragic incident. Police are collecting evidence and recording statements from family members.
This case follows another Noida woman’s suicide last week, where a 33-year-old was found hanging in Bhopal. Her husband, a lawyer, and his mother, a former judge, are under probe for dowry-related allegations.
