New Delhi: In a bid to improve connectivity to Noida International Airport at Jewar, the Delhi Government plans a direct air-conditioned bus service. The Centre is simultaneously advancing road infrastructure projects across the National Capital Region (NCR).
Senior officials stated the proposed Delhi-Jewar bus route is part of several new interstate corridors devised by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to enhance regional public transport. The 12-metre AC buses will offer direct travel for airport-bound passengers. The service aims to start within two months and may benefit commuters traveling between Delhi and towns in Haryana and Rajasthan.
DTC officials mentioned route planning considered passenger demand, traffic patterns, and connectivity needs. “The goal is to increase service frequency, cut travel time, and strengthen last-mile connectivity,” an official noted.
The Delhi-Jewar route is one of multiple proposed corridors, including Delhi-Rewari, Delhi-Karnal, and Delhi-Alwar. Other planned services link Nanaksar in Delhi to Ghaziabad’s bus terminal.
Alongside bus services, the Centre is focusing on road projects to reduce congestion. Union Minister Harsh Malhotra highlighted coordinated efforts between the Centre and Delhi Government to make Delhi congestion-free. Projects include elevated corridors from Sarai Kale Khan to Sohna, Faridabad to Jewar, and a Rs 650-crore elevated road via Kalindi Kunj.
The Kalindi Kunj project aims to improve movement between Delhi, Noida, and Faridabad. Officials said the elevated road could ease bottlenecks, offering signal-free travel.
With Jewar Airport already operational, seamless connectivity remains critical. The new bus services and road corridors are expected to provide faster, affordable travel options for NCR’s growing transport needs.
