Commuters using Golf Course Road, one of the busiest and most modern routes in the Delhi-NCR region, should take note of a critical update. The Gurugram Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory for Sunday, 14 June 2026, stating that the Genpact Underpass will be entirely closed to all vehicles for several hours. Travelers are urged to check their timings and routes before leaving home to avoid inconvenience.

Closure Schedule and Reason

According to the Gurugram Police, the decision to close the underpass is for essential technical work. The details of the closure are as follows:

  • Affected Day: Sunday (14 June 2026)
  • Timing: From 11:00 PM until 04:00 AM the following Monday (Total duration: 5 hours)
  • Reason for Closure: Installation of advanced speed-measuring radars and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras.
  • Status: A “No Entry” rule will be in effect during this period, and no vehicles will be permitted inside the underpass.

Automated E-Challans for Speeding

The installation of these high-tech ANPR cameras and speed radars aims to curb the tendency of drivers to increase speed upon entering underpasses. Many drivers mistakenly believe that these areas lack police presence or surveillance cameras.

The new system will be fully automated. Once a vehicle exceeds the prescribed speed limit, the cameras will instantly capture the speed and the vehicle’s number plate, sending a live e-challan directly to the owner’s mobile phone. The police have emphasized that speeding will no longer go unnoticed, as the “third eye” will monitor every corner to ensure safety.

Alternative Routes to Avoid Congestion

Traffic will be diverted during the complete closure of the underpass. The traffic advisory suggests that instead of entering the underpass, drivers should use the main road (service/surface road) located above. This route will allow motorists to reach their destinations without interruption. Since the work is scheduled for the night, traffic on the surface road is expected to remain normal.

Guidelines for Commuters

The Gurugram Police have issued specific instructions for travelers:

  • Advance Planning: Individuals returning from work at night or those traveling toward Delhi or the airport should plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays during these five hours.
  • Follow Instructions: Personnel from the Gurugram Traffic Police will be stationed at the site. Motorists must follow the directions given by officers and the guidance boards (signage) installed for the diversion.
  • Adhere to Speed Limits: The traffic police clarified that it is the responsibility of every citizen to follow the prescribed speed limits for safe travel on city roads.
