People in Sushantlok-One KC Block are forced to live on private tankers, most of the tubewell motors have become useless and old
Gurugram. We have told our problem to many officials including the newly appointed Mayor, Municipal Commissioner, Chief Engineer of Municipal Corporation but the problem is not getting resolved. This is what the residents of Sushant Lok C and C-One Block say. About three thousand families of this area are yearning for every drop of water. Here people have to resort to private tankers for drinking water.
RWA president Deepak Verma said that on one hand GMDA is supplying water in very less quantity and on the other hand we are not getting tankers from the Municipal Corporation. In such a situation we have to order private tankers. We have been pleading for improvement in the water supply system for many months.
These are the reasons for the shortage of drinking water
– The motors of most tubewells have become old and useless, which are not even worth repairing.
– Old motors were installed in four boosting stations, which need to be replaced.
– Less water is coming from GMDA’s line to the underground tank.
– There is leakage in the main line at many places and water is getting wasted due to this.
– Most of the NPR (non return valves) are not working.
– In the year 2017-18, it was written in the DPR of the Municipal Corporation that the need for water has increased due to the construction of four plus stilt houses here. The entire boosting station needs to be upgraded according to the population, but the system was not upgraded.
– There are complaints about drinking water in more than 100 construction sites. No action is being taken on this.
– There is leakage in the overhead and underground tanks, which needs to be repaired.
People are buying water to drink
Last week, we met the Mayor, Municipal Commissioner and Chief Engineer of the Municipal Corporation and explained the situation, but after this, instead of improving, the situation has started getting worse. People have to buy tankers to fulfill their water needs. – Ashok Dalwani, RWA, General Secretary
People are getting sick after drinking dirty water.
Due to leakage in the drinking water supply line, sewage gets mixed in it. Often, supply of dirty water is also a big problem. A few months ago, six members of our family got sick due to dirty water coming to our house. – Vanita Pasricha, local resident
