GURGAON: Four Bangladeshi nationals were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly holding a family hostage and robbing them of valuables worth ₹9 lakh from a house in Sector 23 last week.

According to police, the accused broke open a rear window’s iron grille and entered the house on the night of June 4. They allegedly held the man, his wife and their 11-year-old daughter hostage, threatening to kill them if they attempted to raise an alarm before fleeing with gold, diamond jewellery, cash and other valuables.

The victims filed a complaint at Palam Vihar police station, leading to a manhunt. Police traced the four accused to a location near Bajghera underpass on Dwarka Road and attempted their arrest.

During the arrest operation, the accused tried to flee and sustained injuries. Khairul Arman suffered injuries to both legs, while Maman and Hilal each sustained leg injuries, and Mamo Khan sustained an arm injury. All four were admitted to a hospital.

ACP (crime) Naveen Sharma said preliminary investigation revealed the accused had surveilled the target before carrying out the robbery as part of their regular modus operandi.

The arrested individuals are residents of Wazirabad in Delhi. Records show they have multiple criminal cases against them across different states for offences including theft, robbery, dacoity, Arms Act violations and Gangster Act violations.

Police stated the accused had planned to flee to Bangladesh after the robbery but were intercepted before they could leave the country.
