In a murder case in Gurugram, Haryana, a woman’s head was separated from the body. The police has started investigation in this case and arrested the accused.
Gurugram Police arrested Mustaq Ahmed (31), a resident of Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand, for murdering his live-in partner who had pressured him for marriage. The 35-year-old victim went missing in December 2024, following which the Sector-5 police station began the investigation. Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said that the deceased’s sister had filed a missing person report in December and during the investigation it was found that Puja was living in a live-in relationship with Mustaq in Gurugram. Police traced Ahmed to Uttarakhand, where he confessed to killing Puja in Nandan Nanhar village on November 16, 2024. After the accused confessed, a police team recovered Puja’s body from under a bridge near Nanda Nahar village in Uttarakhand.
What is the whole matter?
According to the police, the accused, who was a taxi driver in Uttarakhand, met the deceased during her mother’s treatment and later moved to Gurugram with her, where they lived together for two years. The accused married another woman in November 2024, following which a dispute arose between the two. Despite efforts by the local panchayat in Uttarakhand to resolve the matter, the accused succumbed to pressure from the deceased to marry her and allegedly killed her and dumped the body in a canal.
The accused fled to Mangaluru in Karnataka and later returned to Uttarakhand, where he was apprehended. He will be taken on police remand for further interrogation and the investigation in the case is still on. Police officials have confirmed that charges of murder have been invoked in the FIR.

It is worth noting that the accused used to drive a taxi in Uttarakhand. In the year 2022, when the mother of the deceased fell ill in Uttarakhand, she took her for treatment in the accused’s taxi. During this time, the closeness between the two increased. After this, both came to Gurugram and lived in a live-in relationship for 2 years.
In October 2024, both of them had a fight because the deceased had come to know the secret of the accused, that he was a Muslim. After this, the accused left Gurugram and came back to Uttarakhand and later the deceased also came to Uttarakhand. There also, both of them had a fight. The family of the accused evicted both of them from the house.
