Rao Narbir Singh, one of the veteran politicians of Ahirwal, has made a record of becoming a minister in the state government as many times as he won the MLA seat. He has not only become an MLA for the fourth time but also a minister for the fourth time. Not only this, he became a minister during the tenure of different Chief Ministers. He was also a minister in Tau Devi Lal’s government and was also a minister with his fourth generation Dushyant Singh Chautala. At present, no other leader of the state has such a record.
Rao Narbir Singh, who made the lotus bloom for the second time on the state’s largest assembly seat Badshahpur, started electoral politics in 1987 from Jatusana assembly constituency. On the ticket of Lok Dal, he defeated Rao Indrajit Singh, currently the biggest leader of Ahirwal and Union Minister of State for Planning, Statistics and Program Implementation (Independent Charge). Tau Devi Lal rewarded him for this by making him the Minister of State for Home in his government. At that time he was only 26 years old.
He became a minister in Bansi Lal’s government
For the second time, he reached the assembly in 1996 by winning from Sohna assembly constituency and became the Minister of Transport, Cooperation and Food Supply in Bansi Lal’s government. For the third time in 2014, he won from the state’s largest assembly seat Badshahpur and became the Public Works Minister in the Manohar Lal government. In the year 2019, the BJP did not give him a ticket. This time again the BJP gave him a ticket from Badshahpur and he won with a huge number of votes. This time he has become a minister for the fourth time in the government of the fourth Chief Minister.
Grandfather Rao Mohar Singh was also an MLA
Rao Narbir Singh’s grandfather Late Rao Mohar Singh was a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly twice in 1942 and 1946 before the independence of the country. Not only this, Rao Narbir Singh’s father Late Mahabir Singh was an MLA thrice. Mahabir Singh was also a minister in the state government. Rao Narbir Singh’s uncle was also an MLA.
Made a name for himself through his work between 2014 and 2019
Rao Narbir Singh has been in politics for a long time, but his identity as a development man was made between 2014 and 2019. Gurugram benefited from his good chemistry with the then Chief Minister Manohar Lal and good relations with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. Flyovers at IFFCO Chowk, Signature Tower Chowk, Maharana Pratap Chowk, Rajiv Chowk were constructed between 2014 and 2019.
The plans for Gurugram-Sohna Highway, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram University, Medical College were also made during 2014 to 2019. Looking at the same five-year tenure, the public has expressed trust in him this time. During the election campaign, he emphasized on this topic that if he had been a minister from 2019 to 2024, Gurugram would not have been in a bad state.
