Gurgaon – Rajasthan police detained Yash Yadav, a student hailed as an achiever by his local Oxford Convent School, in connection with the NEET‑UG 2026 paper leak.

Police arrived at a house in Khurampur village, Farrukhnagar, on the evening of 13 May 2026 and escorted Yadav away, while neighbours watched in disbelief. Yadav, the son of a farmer, is featured on the school’s banner under the heading “MBBS selection”. A nearby resident noted that Yadav had previously scored 98 % in the CBSE examination.

According to a senior Rajasthan police source, Yadav is alleged to have obtained a “guess paper” containing 45 chemistry and 90 biology questions that appeared in the NEET exam held on 3 May 2026. The source claims the paper was received from a person in Nashik. One suspect, Shubham Khairnar, has already been arrested in Nashik, though it is unclear whether he was the original provider.

Investigators say the Biwal family in Jaipur, whose three members were arrested by the CBI on 14 May 2026, received the guess paper from Yadav. The police allege Yadav sold the paper for between ₹15 lakh and ₹20 lakh to Dinesh Biwal and other individuals in Rajasthan, who then circulated it further.

Yadav, a first‑year BAMS student at Manjira Devi Ayurvedic College and Hospital in Uttarkashi, is the youngest of three siblings. His brother is pursuing hotel management, and his sister is studying law at a private university. Neighbours described the family as humble and hardworking, with father Harbir supporting all three children’s education.

Police believe Yadav had access to the guess paper as early as 26 April 2026, a week before the NEET‑UG exam. They are tracing his bank transactions to locate additional members of the leak network. The paper, initially intended for a limited group, is reported to have been widely distributed by the suspects’ clients.

Authorities are also probing whether Yadav had any link to the 2024 NEET paper leak and whether he directly contacted the primary suspects in the racket.

Local residents expressed surprise at the arrest. Kapil Yadav, a neighbour who witnessed the police action, said the family received no explanation for the detention and described Yash as a decent and sincere boy. Elderly resident Mato Ram, 78, added that the police should have consulted villagers before taking action, emphasizing Yash’s long‑standing reputation in the community.

The NEET‑UG paper leak has led to the cancellation of this year’s exam and forced lakhs of medical aspirants to prepare for a re‑test, heightening public anxiety over the integrity of the entrance process.
