Dry day in delhi
According to the notification issued by the Excise Department, various liquor shops and other licensed premises in Delhi will remain closed from 6 pm on May 23 to 6 pm on May 25, about 48 hours before the end of voting. There will be no sale of liquor on June 4, the day of counting of Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Haryana dry day
Voting will also be held in Gurgaon, Haryana on May 25. In other instructions issued by the Gurgaon district administration, all liquor shops in the city have been ordered to remain closed for 48 hours ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The sale of liquor will remain closed on June 4, scheduled for the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. According to the report of Hindustan Times, Gurugram district administration has seized illegal liquor worth Rs 61 lakh amid the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
To ensure free and fair voting in elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has made it mandatory for polling cities to observe dry day on polling day.
Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 6
Voting will be held on a total of 58 seats in eight states and union territories on Saturday, May 25. Voting for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will begin at 7 am and end at 6 pm. Counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections will take place on June 4, after which the election results will be announced.
In the third phase, voting will be held on eight seats in Bihar, ten seats in Haryana, one seat in Jammu and Kashmir, four seats in Jharkhand, seven seats in Delhi, six seats in Odisha, fourteen seats in Uttar Pradesh and eight seats in West Bengal.
