Principal Dr. Rajiv Baghatta and Superintendent Dr. Anchal Sharma of Sawai Man Singh Medical College (SMS Medical College) resigned on Monday in the case of human organ transplant on the basis of fake NOC. The resignations of both were also accepted. After the truth of the matter came to light, both of them were asked to resign by the Rajasthan government.
Principal Dr. Rajiv Baghatta and Superintendent Dr. Anchal Sharma of Sawai Man Singh Medical College (SMS Medical College) resigned on Monday in the case of human organ transplant on the basis of fake NOC. The resignations of both were also accepted.
After the truth of the matter came to light, both of them were asked to resign by the Rajasthan government. State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTO) Chairman Dr. Sudhir Bhandari has also been asked to resign. He had not resigned till the time of writing the news.
During March this year, the team of Anti Corruption Bureau Rajasthan had exposed the case of human organ transplantation on the basis of fake NOC. Fearing being caught, gang leader Murtaza Ansari had shifted five kidney donors and receivers to a guest house run in Gurugram. All five were caught in a raid by the Gurugram team of CM Flying Squad and a joint team of the Health Department.
On the other hand, after investigation, Rajasthan ACB arrested Assistant Administrative Officer Gaurav Singh, Fortis Hospital Coordinator Vinod Singh and Giriraj Sharma and interrogated them. Later, Jaipur Police also interrogated all three.
It is said that when the name of Principal, Superintendent of SMS Medical College and Chairman of SOTO, Dr. Sudhir Bhandari came up during the inquiry, the Rajasthan Government had asked him to resign. The principal and superintendent resigned. Jaipur Police spokesperson has confirmed the resignation. The spokesperson says that this action has been taken after a month of investigation.
Search for mastermind intensifies
In search of mastermind Murtaza Ansari, the SIT formed by Jaipur Police as well as Gurugram Police has put in all its might. It was Ansari who arranged the arrangement with the donor and receiver in Bangladesh. After making the arrangement, he used to call both of them to India. Then he used to undergo kidney transplant. He is originally from Ranchi. Police have raided there also. Apart from Ansari, three more people are main in the gang. Everyone is running away. Among the three other kingpins, Suleman is originally from Bangladesh, Mohan Nepali is from Nepal and Soo-Soo is from Cambodia. With the arrest of all four, the network will be completely destroyed. Investigation has also revealed that Fortis Hospital had signed an MoU with a company called Mad Safar Private Limited for organ transplant. Jaipur Police has arrested the director and an employee of the company.
