Gurugram News – To prevent Yamuna from getting polluted, a 20 MLD (million litres per day) capacity Sewer Treatment Plant has been built in village Jahajgarh. Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) officials are preparing to get this plant inaugurated by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. After its construction, dirty sewer water will not go directly into the Yamuna river. It will be released into Yamuna after being purified.
GMDA had allotted the construction of this sewer treatment plant to a company two years ago. GMDA’s plan was to purify the dirty water of this village as well as the nearby colonies in this plant and pour it into storm drain number two. Dirty sewer water was being poured into this drain, which was polluting the Yamuna. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued strict orders to GMDA that polluted water should not go into the Yamuna.
The new sewer treatment plant should be constructed as soon as possible. If any kind of negligence is shown in this, strict action will be taken by NGT. Guidelines have been issued to the officials of Haryana State Pollution Control Board in this regard. This sewer treatment plant has been completed at a cost of Rs 25 crore.
Every day 6 ml (million liters) of dirty water flows out from village Jahajgarh and the nearby colonies. Apart from connecting this water, drain number two will be connected to this plant. If dirty water is coming into this drain from behind, then that too will be treated. Let us tell you that this rain drain flows from Signature Tower through Udyog Vihar, Sector-21, 22, 23 and Palam Vihar.
A sewer purification plant of 25 MLD capacity is also being built in village Manesar. This plant will be ready by March. After its construction, the water of Manesar and its surrounding villages and colonies will be purified.
A sewer treatment plant of 100 MLD capacity is to be built in Dhanwapur. Apart from this, a pumping station of 200 MLD is to be built. GMDA has started preparations to issue a fresh tender for this. Tenders were invited under this at the beginning of this year, but after a complaint to the vigilance, the tender was cancelled. Seven companies had participated in this tender.
