Gurugram Pollution: Pollution reached dangerous levels in Gurugram, know which things are banned

Gurugram Pollution: Pollution in the area has reached dangerous levels. In view of this, the Air Quality Management Commission (CMQM) has now implemented the second phase of GRAP (AQI 301 to 400). Along with the restrictions of the first phase, the restrictions of the second phase will also be applicable.

On Monday, AQI was recorded at 227 in Teri Gram and 192 in Vikas Sadan in Gurugram. But the Municipal Corporation and GMDA do not have any special arrangements to deal with pollution. Construction material is being kept in the open at construction sites. Dust and mud are accumulated on the roads. Mechanical road sweeping machines are being used only for formality in the name of cleaning.

There are heaps of C&D waste at various places and it is not being disposed of. Due to poisonous air, children, elderly and respiratory patients are facing problems.

These restrictions were implemented in Grape-2

  • Electricity supply will have to be ensured to keep diesel generators off.
  • Sprinkling of water on roads has been made mandatory.
  • Arrangements will have to be made to prevent dust from flying on traffic jammed roads and intersections.
  • C&D points will have to be identified and pollution increasing activities will have to be stopped.
  • It is mandatory to strictly enforce the ban on running diesel generators in industries.
  • Deployment of adequate traffic policemen at intersections and traffic congested places.
  • Expansion of CNG-electric bus and metro services.
  • Resident Welfare Associations must provide electric heaters to security staff to avoid burning biomass or waste in the open during winters.

Use public transport

To curb the rising pollution levels, the Air Quality Management Commission has advised people to use public transport. Minimise the use of private vehicles. Use technology, choose less congested routes. Change air filters in your vehicles at regular intervals. Avoid dust-generating construction activities. Avoid burning solid waste in the open from October to January.
