There is an atmosphere of happiness among the people of the area after he was made a minister. Everyone believes that all the development work that is incomplete in the area will now be completed soon.

Rao Indrajit Singh, a descendant of freedom fighter Rao Tula Ram, started his political career in 1977 from Jatusana Assembly. He entered the field of electoral politics with a strong performance by winning the first election itself. He was an MLA from Jatusana four times.

He was the minister of many departments including Food and Civil Supplies, Forest and Environment, Medical and Technical Education in the Haryana government. He started parliamentary politics in 1998. He won the very first election from Mahendragarh Lok Sabha constituency on a Congress ticket.

However, in the elections held next year i.e. in 1999, he had to face defeat due to the Kargil wave. After this, he did not look back. He was re-elected from Mahendragarh Lok Sabha constituency in 2004. For the first time, he became the Minister of State for External Affairs in the Dr. Manmohan Singh government at the Centre. For some time, he also held the responsibility of Union Minister of State for Defence Production.

Gurgaon Lok Sabha constituency came into existence in 2008

Gurgaon Lok Sabha constituency came into existence in 2008. After this, he won for the third time in the 2009 elections. Due to poor relations with the then Chief Minister of the state Bhupendra Singh Hooda, he left the Congress and joined the BJP before the 2014 elections.

The BJP fielded him from Gurgaon in the 2014 elections. He won. After this, in the 2019 elections, he won for the second time in a row on a BJP ticket. By winning the 2024 elections, he became the first leader to reach Parliament six times. He was also a minister in both the first terms of Modi. He has been given a place in the third term.

Fought the toughest battle of political life

This time in the Lok Sabha elections, Rao Indrajit Singh fought the toughest battle of his political life. Congress candidate Raj Babbar tried to corner him a lot by putting the local problems in front of the public. During the counting of votes, he kept lagging behind till noon. Many times it seemed as if victory was going away from him but ultimately the crown of victory was tied on his head. It was decided with his victory that he will get a place in the cabinet because Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also said to be impressed by his hold in the area. He calls him his friend in his meetings.
