Gurugram News: Hearing of Bandhwadi landfill case in NGT today – Details Here

Gurugram. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) will hear the Bandhwadi Landfill case this afternoon. The plan for garbage disposal in Bandhwadi and the report of the work done will be submitted to the NGT by the corporation officials.

During the hearing in NGT on January 9, Commissioner and Secretary of Urban Local Bodies Department Vikas Gupta, Faridabad Municipal Commissioner A. Mona Srinivas and Gurugram Municipal Commissioner Dr. Narhari Singh Bangar were present.

NGT had ordered the corporation officials to prepare the action taken report i.e. garbage disposal plan and submit the affidavit by February 10. In this case, a petition was filed by Gurugram residents Vivek Kamboj and Vaishali Rana and others regarding non-disposal of garbage in Bandhwadi.

Orders were given to set up camps in villages

On the orders of NGT, Gurugram Municipal Corporation has organized health checkup camps in Bandhwadi, Baliawas and Gwalpahari villages around Bandhwadi landfill and got water samples from the tube wells of these villages tested.

Target to eliminate garbage by June 30

Municipal corporation officials claim that 20 lakh tonnes of garbage lying in Bandhwadi will be disposed of by June 30, 2024. Currently six agencies are working for this.

Five lakh tonnes of garbage will be disposed by Bhoomi Green Energy, five lakh tonnes by Alpha Therm and three lakh tonnes by Daya Charan & Company. Apart from this, two lakh tonnes of garbage disposal will be done by Bhoomi Green, Green Concrete and Adarsh Bharat Agency. The tender process for disposal of the remaining five lakh tonnes of garbage will be completed in February itself.

Leachate had spread in Aravalli

The petitioners in the NGT had said that due to lack of leachate management at the Bandhwadi landfill, the leachate had spread into the Aravalli forest area. Corporation officials say that two DTROs of 400 KLD capacity are installed at the Bandhwadi site, in which leachate is being disposed.

The RDF generated from garbage disposal is sent by the agencies to the cement companies and the disposal of compost and inert is also done by the agencies at their own level. All the vehicles involved in this entire process are being monitored through GPS.
