Gurugram Jam: After heavy rain in Gurugram, a 10 km long jam occurred from IFFCO Chowk to Mahipalpur in Delhi, people were stranded for hours and pictures went viral on social media.
Following heavy rains, images of massive traffic jams are emerging from Gurugram on Tuesday. People are trapped inside vehicles on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. The traffic jam stretched for over 10 kilometers from IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram to Mahipalpur in Delhi. People leaving their offices for home were stuck in the traffic jam for extended periods.
Heavy rains slowed traffic in many parts of Gurugram, leading to long traffic jams and inconvenience for commuters. Waterlogging on major roads increased congestion at many locations. Images of the traffic jams in Gurugram are also going viral on social media. However, this is nothing new for Gurugram. Whenever it rains, people face similar dire situations.

Delhi also witnessed a significant drop in temperatures after heavy rain on Tuesday. However, the rain significantly reduced visibility, leading to traffic jams and waterlogging in many areas. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility at Palam Airport was 6,000 meters at 1:30 pm, which dropped to 1,200 meters by 5 pm.
Rainfall caused by a western disturbance disrupted normal life in many parts of the city. According to IMD data, as of 5:30 p.m., the Palam weather station recorded 41.6 millimeters (mm) of rain, while the Ridge recorded 37 mm. Safdarjung, the city’s main weather station, recorded 5.8 mm of rain.
The change in weather also led to a sharp drop in temperatures. The city’s maximum temperature was recorded at 29.8 degrees Celsius, 4.4 degrees below normal. This is a significant drop from Sunday’s maximum of 36 degrees Celsius. Tuesday’s minimum temperature was 21 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees below normal.
