Gurugram Fire: Fire in slums and junk caused panic, 10 fire engines brought it under control in three hours

There was a commotion on Wednesday morning when a fire broke out in the slums and junk in Sector-102 of Gurugram at around 3.30 am. As soon as the news of the fire in the slum spread, people raised an alarm and woke up the families sleeping in other slums. In such a situation, people came out of all the slums before the fire spread. Although people tried to extinguish the fire on their own, the fire spread so fast that about 50 slums were burnt in no time.

As soon as the information about the fire in the huts was received, 10 fire engines reached the spot and the work of extinguishing the fire was started. After about three hours of hard work, the fire could be controlled. Three fire engines from Bhimnagar Fire Station, three vehicles from Sector-37, two vehicles from Sector-29 Fire Station, one vehicle from Manesar Fire Station and one vehicle from Pataudi Fire Station were sent to extinguish the fire.

As soon as the information about the fire in the huts was received on time, the family members came out. In such a situation, no person has been burnt or injured. The reason for the fire has not been known. The goods kept in the huts were also completely destroyed due to the fire. The people living in these huts do not even have clothes left to wear. The families whose huts have been burnt were sitting under the shade of the tree and tin shed on Wednesday afternoon and were staring at the burnt huts and goods. At the same time, some people searched the ashes of the huts to see if there was anything useful left.

Now these people are facing the problem of not having food to eat and clothes to wear. The savings of many families also got burnt along with the huts and goods because they could not take out the savings from the hut to save their lives.

What the victims said

Noimuddin said that after the fire in the huts, many families have neither food nor savings left. No help has been provided to the victims by the administration either. In such a situation, food will have to be arranged by borrowing from other people.

Qasim Ali said that all the belongings in his and other people’s huts got burnt. People now have no food to eat and clothes to wear. They have not eaten anything since morning. The administration should come forward to help the affected families.

Bhim Nagar Fire Station officer Narendra said that information about fire in the slums was received at 3.50 am on Wednesday. Immediately three vehicles were sent to the spot. Due to the intensity of the fire, seven fire engines were called from Sector-37, Sector-29, Manesar and Pataudi fire stations. The reason for the fire in the slums could not be ascertained.
