Gurugram Breaking News: Gurugram woman arrested for trying to extort money from cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s mother

The Gurugram police on Tuesday arrested a former woman employee for allegedly trying to extort Rs 40 lakh from former cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s mother Shabnam Singh. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Hema Kaushik alias Dimpy, a resident of Khirki village in Delhi, who allegedly threatened Shabnam Singh to implicate her in a false case and harm the reputation of the family. He had allegedly demanded extortion of Rs 40 lakh from Yuvraj Singh’s mother, but was caught red-handed by the Gurugram police on Tuesday while taking Rs 5 lakh in advance. However, the woman was later released on police bail after she joined the investigation.

Shabnam Singh lodged a complaint at the DLF Phase-1 police station on Monday, stating that in 2022 she had hired Kaushik as a caretaker for Yuvraj Singh’s younger brother Zorawar Singh, as Zorawar Singh had been living for the last 10 years. Was suffering from depression. She alleged that after a few days she realized that the caretaker was unprofessional and Kaushik was framing her son and fired him.

Shabnam Singh also said in her complaint that in May 2023, the woman started sending her continuous messages and calls on WhatsApp and threatened that if the money was not given to her, she would implicate Shabnam Singh’s family in a false case and defame the entire family. In lieu of this, the woman demanded Rs 40 lakh from the complainant.

He alleged that on July 19, he received a message on WhatsApp from the accused woman that she would file a case against him on July 23, after which her entire family would be defamed. On this, the complainant sought time from the woman to recover such a huge amount, after which it was decided to pay Rs 5 lakh by Monday and on Tuesday, when the woman reached Gurugram’s Mega Mall to collect Rs 5 lakh, the police arrested her red-handed. took. DCP (East) Nitish Agarwal said, “Based on the complaint given by the former cricketer’s mother, a case under section 384 (extortion) was registered against the woman at DLF Phase-1 police station.”
