GMRL has divided the construction of the 29 km long metro into three phases. In the first phase, the metro will be constructed from Millennium City Centre Metro Station to Sector 9. In the second phase, the metro will be constructed from Sector 9 to Cyber ​​City and in the third phase, the metro depot will be constructed. Under the first phase, geotechnical survey has been done. In this phase, a tender of Rs 1286 crore was floated for the metro construction, which will be allotted in the next month.
Now GMRL has started preparations for the construction of the second and third phases. Their geotechnical survey will be conducted. Let us tell you that the length of the second phase metro route is about 16 km. Under this, 14 metro stations are to be constructed. Geotechnical survey of Sector-9 to Sector-101 (Dwarka Expressway) will also be conducted under this tender.
Geotechnical survey will be done till railway station
GMRL plans to connect Sector-5 station to the railway station under the Old Gurugram Metro. In such a situation, it has been decided to get a geo-technical survey done from Sector-5 to the railway station. If the approval of the central and state government is received, then the metro will be extended to the railway station. By the way, Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has made a plan to operate the metro from Bhondsi to the railway station. Under this, an interchange station is to be built in Sector-5. GMRL plans that in future the metro will be ready from Bhondsi to Sector-5.
What is a geotechnical survey
Under the geotechnical survey, water and soil samples are taken by digging a borewell up to 30 meters deep. These are sent to the lab for testing. On the basis of this report, the foundation and design of the metro pillar is prepared.
