A 27-year-old software engineer from Delhi was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a homestay located on the Mussoorie-Dhanolti road in Uttarakhand on Monday morning, leaving investigators probing the circumstances surrounding her death.

The deceased has been identified as P Radha Gayatri, a resident of Kidwai Nagar in Delhi who was working at a tech firm in Gurgaon. Her husband, Soumya Shricharan, is also a software engineer based in Pune. The couple had tied the knot on November 8, 2025, and both families originally hail from Visakhapatnam.

Gayatri and Shricharan had checked into the homestay on Saturday night. According to police records, the couple had traveled from Delhi to Rishikesh on June 13 before arriving at the Mussoorie homestay around 11:30pm on Saturday. The incident came to light when the husband made an emergency call to police around 7:30am on Monday morning, informing them that his wife was unconscious.

A joint team of police and medical personnel rushed to the location and discovered Gayatri dead. Station Officer Devendra Chauhan of Mussoorie police station provided details about the scene, stating that the victim was found lying naked on the floor with blood on the bedsheet. Additionally, investigators recovered two empty liquor bottles from the room where the couple had been staying.

The husband told police that he and his wife had consumed alcohol together and went to sleep around 3:30am on Sunday. He claimed that when he woke up later, he found his wife unconscious and bleeding from her nose. Shricharan initially told investigators that he was alone in the room when he discovered his wife in that condition.

When approached by the media, Shricharan refused to provide any additional comments about the incident. However, his account has come under scrutiny following the discovery of his wife’s naked body and the presence of alcohol in the room.

Investigators are treating the death cautiously and conducting a thorough probe into the events that transpired between 3:30am and 7:30am on Sunday morning. The exact cause of death is currently pending post-mortem examination results, which are expected to provide crucial clarity in this case.

This incident has reignited discussions about guest safety at homestays and vacation rentals across hill stations in India. Authorities are reviewing security protocols and paperwork related to the homestay where the incident occurred.

Further updates are awaited as the investigation continues into this mysterious death that has gripped the local community and raised questions about the circumstances leading to the young techie’s demise.
