The Delhi part of Dwarka Expressway is going to open soon. With the opening of this part, the traffic on Delhi Gurugram Expressway is expected to reduce by 25 to 30%. This will provide great relief to thousands of people traveling between Delhi-Gurugram. Time has been sought from the PMO regarding its inauguration. This project has cost about nine thousand crore rupees.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also inaugurate the Delhi part of Dwarka Expressway. For this, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has sought time from the Prime Minister’s Office. Preparations for the inauguration ceremony will be started as soon as time is available.
Travel from Delhi to Gurugram will be easy
An attempt will be made to hold the ceremony on the Delhi-Gurugram border so that people from both areas can reach easily. Last year, the Gurugram part of the project was also inaugurated by the Prime Minister. After the Delhi part is operational, the traffic pressure on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway is expected to reduce by 25 to 30 percent.
Expressway work completed from Kherki Daula toll to Shiv Murti
Dwarka Expressway has been constructed from near Kherki Daula toll plaza on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway to in front of Shiv Murti in Mahipalpur, Delhi. Its Gurugram part has been opened last year. Construction of tunnel was left in Delhi part. Now not only the construction of the tunnel is complete but safety checks have also been completed.
Traffic pressure will be reduced near Manesar
Now NHAI is trying to open it as soon as possible so that the traffic pressure on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway can be reduced. There is heavy traffic pressure on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway from Dhaula Kuan in Delhi to Manesar in Gurugram, especially till Sirhaul border.
Now the traffic in Manesar has reduced due to the opening of Gurugram part
With the opening of Gurugram part, the pressure near Manesar has reduced to some extent. It is expected that after the Delhi section becomes operational, the pressure will reduce by 25 to 30 percent. After the Delhi section becomes operational, those going to the airport from Manesar will use the Dwarka Expressway.
Not only this, vehicles going to the airport from Gurugram area and coming from the airport towards Gurugram will use the tunnel. This is expected to reduce the traffic pressure on both sides from Dhaula Kuan to Sirhaul border to a great extent.
In this regard, environmental activist and retired Chief Town Planner of Haryana, Prof. KK Yadav said,
I estimate that once the Delhi part of Dwarka Expressway is operational, the traffic pressure on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway will reduce by 30 percent. This will be a big relief. Due to reduced pressure, the pollution level will decrease. A very good project has been prepared. Dwarka Expressway will be a better picture of the country’s development in front of the world.
Demand to open the tunnel as soon as possible
People who face traffic jams on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway every day say that just like the Gurugram section was opened first and later officially inaugurated by the Prime Minister, the tunnel built in the Delhi section should also be opened in the same way. The wedding season has begun.
There are many banquet halls and hotels on both sides between Sirhaul border and Mahipalpur. Weddings keep happening in them. Due to this, there is a lot of traffic pressure on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway from 5 pm to 10 pm.
With the opening of the tunnel, the pressure of thousands of vehicles going towards the airport will be reduced. Engineers Rajan Kumar and Jai Singh living in South City say that the formal inauguration can happen anytime. The tunnel should be opened.
Project at a glance
The cost of construction of the project is about nine thousand crore rupees.
The project was divided into two parts and the responsibility of construction was given to different companies.
The responsibility of the Gurugram part was given to the construction company L&T.
The responsibility of construction of the Delhi part lies with Jaikumar Infra Project Limited.
In the Delhi part, a tunnel has been constructed from Dwarka to near the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway.
The second tunnel has been constructed from near Shivmurti in Mahipalpur to Palam Airport.
The length of both the tunnels is about four kilometers and two and a half kilometers respectively.
High pressure water mist fire system has been developed in both the tunnels.
After the Delhi part is operational, it will take a maximum of 30 minutes to reach Palam Airport from Manesar.
18.9 km of the expressway is in Gurugram, the remaining 10.1 km is in Delhi.
23 kilometers of the section is elevated and about four kilometers is underground (tunnel).
This is the first expressway in the country whose elevated part is built on a single pillar.
About two lakh MT of steel has been used in it, which is 30 times more than the Eiffel Tower.
About 20 lakh CUM of concrete has been used, which is six times more than the Burj Khalifa.
It takes 2 hours to complete a 15-minute journey
The current situation is that travelling from Sirhaul border to Mahipalpur from Gurugram side and from Delhi side to Dhaula Kuan to Mahipalpur is quite troublesome.
Sometimes it takes one and a half to two hours to complete a journey of 10 to 15 minutes. Regarding this, NHAI says that it is expected that time will be available from the Prime Minister’s Office soon. In such a situation, the Delhi section will be operational soon. NHAI is aware of the problems of the people.
