At the same time, the sanitation workers working with the cleaning contractor of Gurugram Municipal Corporation, especially those coming from West Bengal and Assam, are under strict surveillance of the officials these days. Their citizenship is being checked by the police administration.

More than 50 people were kept in the center

More than 50 people have been kept in the detention center. Police say that their documents are being checked. Everyone will be released after the investigation.

On July 17, the Gurugram Police had written a letter to the district administration requesting the establishment of these detention centers. In its letter, the police had cited the Central Ministry’s directive of May 2, 2025, in which the states have been asked to identify Bangladeshis and Rohingyas at the district level. The Union Home Ministry has also formulated a standard operating procedure (SOP) for their deportation. If any Bangladeshi or Rohingya is found living illegally in India, he is to be detained and kept in a detention center. On July 18, detention centers have been set up at four different places in Gurugram. These include the Community Center of Badshahpur, Community Center of Sector 10A, Community Center of Sector 40 and Community Center of Sector-1 of Manesar. Gurugram district has been divided into four police districts East, West, South and Manesar.

On Tuesday, the administration appointed the Naib Tehsildar of Badshahpur as in-charge of Badshahpur Detention Center, the Naib Tehsildar of Kadipur as in-charge of Sector-10A Detention Center, the Naib Tehsildar of Wazirabad as in-charge of Sector 40 Community Center and the Naib Tehsildar of Manesar as in-charge of Manesar Detention Center. An attempt was made to contact Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar in the matter, but he could not be contacted.
