Action Looms Over Illegal Constructions in DLF Areas

DLF’s Housing Violations Spark Action by Authorities

In Gurugram’s upscale DLF Phases 1 to 5, a major inspection has uncovered violations in nearly 7,500 homes. Out of over 15,000 properties surveyed, almost half have been flagged for breaking building codes and occupancy certificate (OC) rules. It’s a big deal, and the authorities aren’t taking it lightly.

The Town and Country Planning Department is preparing to take this report to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court is set to hear a case on January 10, 2025, following complaints from the DLF City Resident Welfare Association (RWA). Their petition highlights unchecked illegal constructions and businesses popping up in residential areas.

Phase 3 seems to be a hotspot for violations. Officials have already issued notices to around 1,100 homeowners, sticking them right onto the houses for everyone to see. In Phase 5, it’s a similar story. About 81 houses had their occupancy certificates pulled because of things like unauthorized construction or running small businesses—paying guest setups, guest houses, that sort of thing. None of it really fits the rules for residential zones.

Looks like the authorities aren’t playing around this time. With the court date coming up, it’ll be interesting to see how this all unfolds and what changes might be on the horizon for these neighborhoods.
