Gurugram: Now there is hope of getting relief from jam and heavy traffic in Gurugram’s largest Sadar Bazaar area. This is because the solution to the parking problem has been found here.
The traffic police has started parking in two big grounds near the market. Temporary parking has been started here. One ground belongs to the club and a modern hospital is to be built in the other. There was an old government hospital here. After the demolition of its building, the ground here has been vacant for a long time. The traffic police has not only issued an advisory regarding this free parking, but boards for free parking have been installed on every road leading to Sadar Bazaar. People have also appreciated this effort of the traffic police.
Movement of 80 thousand vehicles every day around the market
Sadar Market is the biggest market of the city. There is movement of thousands of vehicles here every day. Although, if we talk about the daily traffic movement in Old Railway Road, New Railway Road, Bus Stand Road, Civil Line, Gurudwara Road, Bada Bazaar etc. adjacent to the market, it is between 70 to 80 thousand but in Sadar Bazaar. Close to 10 thousand vehicles arrive every day. These vehicles are parked on the roads in the five kilometer circle around the market.
Thousands of drivers coming to Sadar Bazaar every day park their vehicles at Shama Restaurant, Sainik Board, Civil Line, Civil Hospital, Municipal Corporation Office, Hanuman Mandir Road, Apna Bazar, Aapka Bazar, Gurudwara Road, Near Post Office, Jain Mandir, Bada.
Market, Road behind Sadar Bazaar, Jacobpura, park around Government Girls School. Due to parking of the vehicle on the road itself, a two lane road gets converted into one lane. Apart from this, auto drivers pick and drop the passengers here, due to which heavy traffic and jam situations remain here all the time.
Free parking here
The traffic police administration has provided parking facility in the club ground adjacent to the district library. Its entry is from Mayur Chowk. Parking board has also been installed here. Around 300 vehicles can be parked here. Apart from this, the building of the old civil hospital was demolished several months ago.
A modern hospital is to be built here but the project is currently delayed. Due to this there is vacant ground here. Its entrance is in front of the second gate of the library ground from the session house side. More than 450 vehicles can be parked here. Police have put up boards at both the parking lots for the convenience of the people. Apart from this, free parking boards have been installed on every road leading to Sadar Bazaar.
Traders appreciated
Apart from the traders, this initiative of the traffic police has been appreciated by the people. Traders say that this will increase their business. Many times customers used to go back due to lack of parking.
Customers will not return due to parking
Trader Praveen Singla said that parking is the biggest problem for those coming to the market. Now people will get relief by making two parking lots. Due to this, at least customers will not be able to return due to lack of parking.
Free parking is a better step
Businessman Rajesh Goyal said that free parking near Sadar Bazaar is a better step by the traffic police. This will provide relief to customers as well as traders. Carts carrying luggage will also be able to park in the parking lot.
Traffic movement will be better
Shivaji Nagar resident Bhupendra Pal Singh said that with the construction of two parking lots near the market, traffic movement will also improve near it. Due to lack of parking facilities, people park their vehicles on the roads. Which causes problems.
What do officials say
ACP Traffic Sukhbir Singh said that the capacity of both the grounds near the market is around 750 vehicles. Cars can be parked here for free. This will save people from the hassle of parking.
DCP Traffic Virendra Vij said that two free parking have been started near Sadar Bazaar. An advisory has been issued regarding this. Both the grounds are within walking distance of Sadar Bazaar.
