Gurugram. After the fire of violence in Nuh reached Gurugram, the administration claims that the situation in the city is rapidly returning to normal, but the style of the city does not match this claim.
The atmosphere in the city looks normal, but this normalcy is not the same as it used to be on other days. From morning to evening where markets and roads are deserted, At the same time, in the markets of different sectors, which were shining till late night, now the shops are closed in the evening. An undeclared curfew-like situation has prevailed in Gurugram since the Nuh riots.
In the city on Wednesday, a unit of the paramilitary forces was deployed in Gurugram. Orders were given to open schools in other parts of the district except Sohna. Administrative officials also interacted by visiting the residential societies to restore the confidence of the people.
Paramilitary personnel were deployed at the Mehrauli-Gurugram (MG) Road Metro station. On normal days, tempos coming from bus stand to MG Road metro station used to drop passengers down. No vehicle including tempo was allowed to stop below on Wednesday. After noon, the situation was that the tempo of this route reduced on the route itself.
The police removed even the vendors of food and drink items on the service road of MG Road. Here the PCR van of the police kept patrolling continuously. Local people said that there was a huge rush of passengers at this metro station on Tuesday night. It is believed that a large number of people have left here due to fear of violence.
Apart from this, in Sadar Bazar, the oldest and busiest market of the city, there were no vendors selling household items on carts and hawkers. The same condition could be seen in the vegetable market on Gurudwara Road. A decrease was also observed in the number of stalls set up at Sector-14 Old Delhi Road.
The buzzing malls remained deserted
Usually, malls on MG Road are crowded on normal days, but only a limited number of people were seen in these malls on Wednesday. Same was the case with the city markets. Except for essential items, very few people were seen at the showrooms etc.
Cinema hall also remained deserted
Single screen cinema halls in the city as well as cinema halls operating in malls also saw a decrease in footfalls. Bhanu Pratap Singh, manager of Raj Cinema located on Old Delhi Road, says that at this time there are other priorities in place of entertainment, hence the audience is also less. Haven’t closed any shows yet. Hope the situation will improve soon.
Lockdown like situation seen in new Gurugram area
Except Sohna sub-division, all the educational institutions of the district remained open on Wednesday. Traffic on the roads was also normal in Old Gurugram area while roads wore a deserted look in New Gurugram. The police team continued patrolling in the district. This scene was seen after the Corona period. there, Troops of paramilitary forces continued to conduct flag march in the sensitive Sohna sub-division. In the New Gurugram area, Sub Divisional Officers (SDMs) and police officers continued to visit slums and sensitive areas to make people feel safe.
