Gurugram Traffic Police have released a comprehensive traffic advisory for commuters traveling towards Sukharali via MDI Chowk, Katarani Chowk, or Gurugram-Mahrawali Road. The advisory comes into effect from June 23 and will remain in force until July 20, 2026, affecting travel plans for the next 25 days.
The primary route via MDI Chowk flyover has been completely closed for vehicular movement. This decision was made by the Municipal Corporation to facilitate major construction work for the installation of a sewer line directly beneath the MDI Chowk flyover. The closure impacts the main road leading towards Sukharali, which runs directly under the flyover structure.
To manage the flow of traffic smoothly, authorities have implemented strict diversions. Vehicles heading towards Sukharali via Katarani Chowk or GM Road are now advised to take National Highway-48 (NH-48) directly from MDI Chowk. From there, drivers can access diversion routes to reach their destinations seamlessly.
In addition to the main road closure, the U-turn located under the MDI Chowk flyover has also been sealed off. This measure ensures the safety of construction workers and prevents accidents during the excavation and building phases. Commuters who previously relied on the U-turn to change direction now need to adjust their route planning accordingly.
For those approaching from Sukharali and intending to take the U-turn beneath MDI Chowk flyover, a new alternative has been provided. After crossing the flyover via NH-48, motorists can use a newly installed alternate U-turn situated just before the traffic lights. This allows drivers to safely change direction and continue their journey in the desired direction.
The Traffic Police have specifically urged commuters to exercise caution during peak hours, as congestion is expected to increase significantly over the next few weeks. They recommend following traffic guidelines strictly, opting for alternative routes whenever possible, and maintaining patience during delays.
Further updates will be provided by the traffic department as the construction work progresses. Authorities have assured the public that efforts are being made to minimize inconvenience and ensure smooth traffic flow in the region.
