NEW DELHI: Delhi Police have registered a case based on a woman’s allegation that she was gangraped inside a private bus in the capital, officials confirmed on Thursday, 15 May 2026.
According to police, an FIR has been filed based on the woman’s statement and an investigation has been launched. The bus involved has been identified as belonging to ‘Royal Travels & Cargo,’ with its listed head office at Shop No. 10, Basement, Shri Hari Plaza, Faridabad. The bus has been seized, and both accused individuals have been arrested. Officials stated that the probe is being conducted from all possible angles.
The incident is alleged to have occurred in the Rani Bagh area of Delhi, where the bus is said to have covered approximately 7 km while the crime was being committed.
In a reaction on social media platform X, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj commented, “Big Shame – Nirbhaya repeated. 30-year-old woman was picked up in the bus at night on pretext of asking time. Then she was raped by multiple people in the moving bus for around 2 hours… Bus kept moving in Rani Bagh area of Delhi covering 7 km. What else do you expect from Delhi Police whose head Lt Gov Delhi wants us to watch his reels eating Chhole bhature & jalebi. He doesn’t have time to meet us for 3 yr old school girl rape.”
Police have not yet released further details on the identities of the accused or the exact timeline of events. The investigation is ongoing.
