Gurugram Fire Death: Four deaths in four minutes, a painful incident

Four deaths within four minutes at Saraswati Enclave in Gurugram has robbed the administration of its sleep. A survey will be conducted to check if the power system in buildings is developed according to the load. A survey will also be conducted to check if the system in industrial units is up to the load.

The decision about whether the responsibility of the survey will be given to the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health or a private agency will be taken in a meeting of the district administration. A meeting will be held after Diwali under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav. The responsibility of investigating the Saraswati Enclave accident has been handed over to SDM Gurugram. He has been asked to submit his report as soon as possible.

Even before the incident of fire in Saraswati Enclave building late Thursday night, many such incidents have happened before. A few months ago, a garment factory in Manesar caught fire. The fire was not extinguished until all the material in the factory was burnt. Three days ago, a huge fire broke out in the office of a logistics company.

Fires are caused by short circuits

In most of the incidents, one thing comes out that the fire was caused by short circuits. It is clear from this that the National Building Code is not being followed in the construction of buildings. Attention is not given to developing the power system in buildings according to the load.

There is more load of electricity

Not only this, most of the people put more load than the capacity of the system. For example, a building has a 20 kW power system developed and a load of 30 kW is run on it. Due to this, short circuits occur. Keeping this in mind, the administration will conduct a survey.

This will reveal how many buildings have more load than the power system. After knowing this, people will be asked to upgrade the system. Instructions will be issued to the builders to upgrade the system in societies. During the survey, it will also be found out whether there is a fire system in high-rise buildings or not.

People will be made aware

After the survey, an awareness campaign will be run. People will be informed that the building should not have an MCB of higher capacity. If MCB is installed according to the load, it goes down as soon as a short circuit occurs. It does not go beyond this. Attention should be paid to the switch system. It should be covered. Water should not fall on it.

The entire power system should be changed at an interval of 10 years. Only that much load should be put as per the capacity of the system. To save money, people take less load from the electricity corporation and later put more load on it. This increases the chances of short circuit.
