Haryana news: As the Haryana assembly elections are getting closer, political activities have intensified in the state. Earlier, like the Congress and the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had also announced to contest the assembly elections in Haryana on its own, but now it seems that the intention of AAP is gradually changing. It is being told that Congress and AAP can join hands for the upcoming Haryana assembly elections.
According to reports, an in-principle agreement has been reached between the two parties, but now the seat sharing is yet to be finalised. AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha and Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal may meet tonight or tomorrow to discuss this issue. The last date for nomination for the assembly elections to be held on October 5 is September 4.
Haryana elections or it will continue
However, it is not clear whether this alliance lasts till the Haryana elections or it will continue in the Delhi Assembly elections in 2025. It is worth mentioning that AAP, which has won every election in Delhi since 2013, is in trouble this time because party chief and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is in jail in the liquor policy case. In such a situation, the leadership of AAP seems to be weak. At the same time, Congress is already seen in favor of alliance. Earlier, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi had also advised that the members of the India Alliance should contest the elections together, so that there is no division of votes.
Lok Sabha elections 2024Â
Let us tell you that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections also, there was an alliance between Congress and AAP in Haryana. While Congress contested on 9 out of 10 seats in Haryana, AAP fielded its candidate on one seat. While Congress won five seats in the Lok Sabha elections, AAP lost to BJP’s Naveen Jindal from Kurukshetra by about 29,000 votes.
