Gurugram Crime: The accused was one day less than 16 years old on the day of the incident, sent to juvenile home for reform

Gurugram Crime: A 16-year-old boy allegedly strangled a nine-year-old girl living in his neighbourhood to death in Signature Society located in Sector-107 of Rajendra Park police station area. After interrogation, Rajendra Park police station presented the accused juvenile in front of Juvenile Justice Board on Tuesday. During this, information was taken from him. To get more information in the case, the accused has been sent to protective custody for two days by the board.

During this time he will be kept in a juvenile correctional home. According to legal experts, the accused cannot be tried as an adult as he was one day younger than 16 years on the day of the crime.

Case can be run as an adult at the age of 16 to 18

If the age of the accused in a heinous crime is between 16 to 18 years, then the court can give permission to run the case as an adult by understanding the state of mind of the accused on the basis of his mental capacity test and IQ test.

The accused will remain in the juvenile correction home till the hearing of the case

If the accused is below 16 years of age, the case will be tried in front of the Juvenile Justice. During this time, the accused minor will have to be kept in a safe home or juvenile correction home.

The accused in the Prince murder case was also considered an adult
